Semillon Gris wine grapes are unique to the Cape Winelands. Semillon is one of the Cape’s oldest varieties and was first planted in the early 1800s. The green grapes turn red one year, then back to green the next.

The berries are initially pink or black and when they change colour, they are known as Semillon Gris. They have a very heavy intensity in them, with much more character than normal Semillon grapes.

Paserene uses Semillon Gris wine grapes from Franschhoek in The Shiner White wine.
